Injured Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has revealed he could have lost his leg after the horrific injury he picked up at Blackburn Rovers. The Frenchman suffered a double fracture of his leg in the 2-2 draw with Blackburn at Ewood Park in October.
Cisse is not expected to be back in action until next season and the former Auxerre ace admitted only for the care of Liverpool's medical staff he could have lost his leg and he owes them a huge debt of gratitude.
"When I was taken from the field, what they did next was so important for my career, what they did in those first few moments was vital," Cisse told the club's official magazine.
"My bone were overlapping and I had no circulation in my foot.
"They had to give me drugs to help with the pain and then they had to pull my bones back into place with their hands.
"If they had waited until I had got to the hospital, I might have lost my leg, it was that serious."
Cisse has returned to Liverpool's training ground to undergo treatment on the injury and is hopeful he can make a comeback sooner than expected.
