Getafe plot keeper swoop

Getafe are thought to be lining up a move for Real Betis goalkeeper Pedro Contreras.

Getafe are thought to be lining up a move for out-of-favour Real Betis goalkeeper Pedro Contreras.

The Madrid-based outfit have found their feet in La Primera in recent weeks, and now sit 17th - out of the relegation places.

However, they are looking to further strengthen when the transfer window reopens, and boss Quique Flores has identified a goalkeeper as a priority.

Sergio Sanchez and Javier Sanchez Broto are currently vying for the club's number one jersey, although neither has made it their own.

As a result, Flores is looking to bring in a proven top-level keeper and, after ruling out a move for Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aragoneses, has set his sights on Contreras.

The Spain cap has fallen down the pecking order at Betis and now finds himself third choice behind Toni Prats and youngster Toni Doblas.

Getafe are expected to try and seal a loan move for Contreras when the window reopens.

Meanwhile, Getafe president Angel Torres has proposed extreme action in a bid to enforce the club's anti-racism stance.

Torres was left dismayed by the racist abuse suffered by Barcelona stars Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho at the hands of Getafe fans during last weekend's game at Estadio Alfonso Perez.

He has now suggested that Getafe's players take to the pitch at their next home league game with their faces painted black as a protest.

"I don't want anyone doubting Getafe," Torres stated. "We reject racism and xenophobia and we are going to demonstrate it.

"For this reason I am going to propose to my players that they paint their faces black for the next game we play at home against Villarreal.

"It's ridiculous to think that there is racism here when we have players of different nationalities."
