Burns moves to Shrews

Shrewsbury Town have signed centre back Liam Burns from Bristol Rovers.

Shrewsbury Town manager Gary Peters has made his second signing in as many days with the capture of centre back Liam Burns.

The former Port Vale player (pictured) joins the Gay Meadow club on non-contract terms after deciding to leave League Two rivals Bristol Rovers.

The 26-year-old will be available for the club's trip to Chester City on Saturday after deciding not to stay on with The Pirates, whom he initially joined in the summer.

"He was on a month to month contract at Bristol Rovers, they offered him another contract and would like to have kept him," Peters told the club's official website.

"He's decided against that, as he lives in Stoke.

"I've said he can come in with us and we'll have a look at him, we'll register him and he may find himself on the bench tomorrow."

Another Rovers player to leave The Memorial Stadium is winger Ryan Williams, who joins Conference strugglers Forest Green Rovers on a month's loan this week.

Meanwhile, midfielder David Savage has declared he wants to see out the season with The Pirates, despite interest from League Two rivals Boston United.

"I think people have known about the speculation in the last few weeks with the Boston thing," Savage told the club's official website.

"But in truth, I've just wanted it to be put to bed, so I can get on with playing.

"I'm desperate to finish the season here and hopefully we can achieve some kind of success."
