Real confirm Totti desire

Florentino Perez admits he would like to bring Francesco Totti to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has admitted he would like to bring Roma star Francesco Totti to the Primera titans.

Speculation has been rife this week ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash between the two clubs that Real are preparing to launch a move for Totti and his team-mate Antonio Cassano.

Perez has now confirmed he would like to add Totti to the 'galacticos' already at the Santiago Bernabeu, and revealed he made a discreet enquiry last summer when Real bought Walter Samuel from the Serie A giants.

"When we were dealing with (Walter) Samuel we asked Roma if they were prepared to transfer any other players," Perez told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

"They told us that Emerson was going, but that he had already been reserved for Juventus.

"They never told us that Totti was for sale, and we have done nothing to try and take him away.

"The only thing I can say is that Totti is the first player I would try to take from Rome because he is the best of all of them.

"For me, he is first and then Cassano."
