Huth out of Germany squad

Robert Huth has withdrawn from the German national side.

Chelsea's Robert Huth has been forced to withdraw from the German national side due to an ankle injury he sustained in training.

The 20-year old, who has had limited chances this season at Chelsea due to their near impermeable back four, has nevertheless impressed whenever he has had the call from Germany.

In less than six months he has zoomed up the age groups making his way from Youth, to Under-21 and then completed an impressive full 90 minutes against world champions Brazil for the full senior XI.

Germany, who play the Asian triumvirate of Japan, South Korea and Thailand from December 16-21, are suffering from a spate of injuries which is hampering new coach, Jurgen Klinsmann's reign.

Hertha Berlin captain, Arne Friedrich, has been called up by Klinsmann as a replacement.
