Kezman thanks team-mates

Mateja Kezman has thanked his team-mates after netting his first Premiership goal.

Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman has thanked his team-mates after finally notching his first Premiership goal in a 4-0 win over Newcastle.

The much maligned hitman, a second half substitute, netted in the final moments with the most precocious of finishes from the penalty spot.

After the game, Kezman had nothing but gratitude towards his team-mates at Stamford Bridge.

''For the last three or four months I've been unlucky, I hit the post again today but all the players have helped me with my confidence,'' Kezman told Sky Sports.

''I know all the lads were behind me, so you can try anything.

''I worked hard every day to get to this moment."

Influential midfielder Frank Lampard admitted Newcastle were slightly unlucky to return home with a 4-0 defeat.

"At half-time we weren't very happy and they managed to stop us playing,'' conceded Lampard.

''It made us wonder if the breakthrough was going to come but once we got the first we were away.

"I'd like to think I'm doing OK, this season I've tried to improve and like to think I'm playing as well as I can.''
