Atletico confirm Jesper liking
Atletico coach Caesar Ferrando has confirmed his liking for Jesper Gronkjaer.
Atletico Madrid coach Caesar Ferrando has confirmed his admiration for Jesper Gronkjaer. The Birmingham City winger has failed to make the expected impact at St Andrews since his summer move from Chelsea.
Blues boss Steve Bruce has confirmed that Gronkjaer can leave the club and at least one Spanish club - believed to be Atletico - has opened talks with Birmingham.
Sevilla and Valencia are also thought to be interested, but Atletico are reported to be heading the queue to land Gronkjaer in January.
Ferrando has now confirmed his liking for the Danish winger.
"Gronkjaer seems good to me," said Ferrando.
"He is a good player, but for new players you need to speak to Toni [Munoz, Atletico's sporting director].
"All the teams in the world want to improve and when the chance to make a signing and improve comes along you should do it, although we only admit that we like him."
Wolfsburg's impressive Bulgarian Martin Petrov is also being linked with Atletico and Ferrando confirmed his liking for him too.
"I know him and he is another good player, but I have not valued him, that is another question for Toni," he continued.
