Mourinho: No Gerrard bid
Jose Mourinho has insisted he has no plans to mount a bid for Steven Gerrard.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted he has no plans to mount a bid for Liverpool's Steven Gerrard. The Reds star is being constantly linked with a move away from Anfield and should Gerrard leave, there are only so many clubs who could afford him - one of those being Chelsea.
The Blues are believed to have made a bid for Gerrard in the summer - but he opted to stay put at Liverpool and Mourinho insists there will be no approach when the transfer window opens in January.
When asked whether he would like to bring Gerrard in, Mourinho replied: "No.
"He is a player I admire very much. I think Liverpool are lucky to have such a fantastic player.
"In the open market in January, if we only have small injuries like that to Robert Huth, if we don't have big injuries, the market can be open but it is closed for us.
"So I don't think about players. The summer is too far ahead to think about."
