Atletico eye Petrov

Spanish media reports claim that Atletico Madrid are looking at Martin Petrov.

The Liga outfit feel that the talented Bulgarian international could be the man to improve a weak left flank and are reportedly looking to make a bid for Petrov during the winter transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who has scored seven goals for the Wolves this season - including four in one game against Mainz - is contracted at the VW Arena until 2007, but his current deal contains a clause that would allow him to leave the club at the end of the season for an agreed fee of ‚é¼7 million.

Petrov played and scored for a world eleven in a friendly against Barcelona at Camp Nou on Wednesday and his performance looks not to have gone unnoticed by Atletico.

Atletico are readying themselves for a busy period, with Birmingham winger Jesper Gronkjaer also on their wish list.
