Former Netherlands international Ronald De Boer is training with Ajax.
Ronald De Boer is training with Ajax, but there is no possibility of the former Netherlands international pulling on their famous jersey in competitive action.De Boer is winding down his career in Qatar with Al-Rayyan and claims he is enjoying life in the Middle East, but the competition is currently on hold.
The forward has taken the opportunity to head home for a couple of weeks, which prompted his appearance at Ajax's training complex next to the Amsterdam ArenA.
"I am no longer capable of playing at the very highest level," he said when questioned on his appearance in Amsterdam. "My knee will not allow me to play at the highest level.
"It (Qatar) is a superb country to play football and we play in splendid surroundings.
"The competition does not start again until December 30, so I have come home and that is why I am here, to keep my fitness levels up."
De Boer will call time on his career in Qatar, with a move into coaching a distinct possibility.
"I will look to secure my coaching diplomas," he said. "But I have no definite plans at the moment."
