Valencia ordered to pay up

Valencia have been ordered to pay ‚é¼1 million to Auxerre for Mohammed Sissoko.

Valencia have been ordered to pay ‚é¼1 million to Auxerre for the controversial transfer of Mohammed Sissoko.

The 19-year-old Mali international midfielder left Auxerre last summer to sign for the Primera outfit, despite being offered a professional deal by the French side.

However, French league rules stipulate that youngsters who have been brought through by a club must sign their first contract at that club, if one is offered.

Auxerre had appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after Sissoko completed his move to the Mestalla last summer.

Having won the case, a period of negotiation has eventually led to a figure of ‚é¼1 million being set.

Sissoko has proven an astute piece of business by the Spanish champions, having established himself as a regular thanks to a string of mature displays.
