Livorno look at Litmanen

Livorno are believed to be lining up a shock move for Jari Litmanen.

Livorno are believed to be lining up a shock move for Jari Litmanen.

Reports emanating from Italy suggest Livorno coach Franco Colomba is considering a move for the Finland international.

Litmanen is currently playing for Finnish side FC Lahti after his release from Ajax last April.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona ace has previously admitted he would like to try his luck in a top league again before he hangs up his boots and has his sights on a move when the transfer window reopens in January.

Livorno are thought to be ready to open talks with Litmanen over the Christmas period and with the skilful forward being available on a free transfer, he would be the type of signing Livorno would be seeking.

The Italian outfit are also being linked with a move for former Brescia star Matias Almeyda.

The Argentine international is looking for a new club after leaving Brescia.

West Bromwich Albion are believed to be leading the chase for Almeyda's signature, but Livorno could be ready to offer him the chance to stay in Italy.
