Lizarazu to carry on
Bixente Lizarazu wants to stay at Marseille but is at odds with Philippe Troussier.
Bixente Lizarazu admits he wants to stay at Marseille but concedes he is at odds with Philippe Troussier's coaching style. The veteran full back joined Marseille in the summer on a free transfer from Bayern Munich but there have been strong rumours of discontent at Stade Velodrome.
Since Troussier replaced Jose Anigo as coach, Lizarazu has been a peripheral figure, sparking renewed speculation he will leave the club.
But while the defender is not looking to leave l'OM, he acknowledges that he is struggling to come to terms with Troussier's method of coaching.
"About my career, I will be taking the decision all on my own," Lizarazu told L'Equipe.
"The rumours about my departure for Qatar are a joke, they were probably started by someone who knows me very badly.
"The rumours of a possible redeployment in television are true as I have had contacts so those rumours are information. But it is certainly not an immediate future.
"I am perfectly fit enough to carry on my high-level football career. I hope it is clear enough. I am still hungry for competition.
"Philippe Troussier's management method is probably built on conflict and provocation but I don't work that way.
"Today, does Troussier still rely on me? I am not sure. Anyway, he has not showed it yet.
"For the rest, I won't say anything else."
