Prem duo warned over Ramos
The chase for Sevilla's Sergio Ramos looks set to hot up during the transfer window.
The chase for Sevilla starlet Sergio Ramos looks set to hot up during the January transfer window. The teenage full back is a target for both Arsenal and Manchester United after his superb displays this term.
The 18-year-old broke into Sevilla's first team at the start of the season and has gone on to establish himself as an undisputed regular.
His progress has not gone unnoticed by either Arsene Wenger or Sir Alex Ferguson who have both brought Spanish youngsters to The Premiership recently.
Both clearly see the Spain Under-21 star as the long-term candidate for their respective right back slots and are ready to try and convince Sevilla to part with the young talent.
Ramos signed a new contract with the Primera outfit earlier in the season which took his release fee to £12 million.
However, that figure is due to rise to £18 million once he has made three more first-team appearances, and his father Jose Maria Ramos - who also acts as his agent - has warned interested suitors they will have to move quickly or see his price soar.
"Sergio may play in the league games on January 9 and 16 and then in the Spanish Cup," he stated. "Then he will be worth £6 million more.
"Arsenal had virtually done the deal four months ago.
"They spoke to the club but couldn't finalise matters. Perhaps they will now.
"Sevilla say my son's not for sale but everyone has his price. It was the same for Jose Antonio Reyes."
