English clubs scout Pandev

English teams could rival Barcelona in the race to sign Walter Pandev.

English teams could be ready to rival Barcelona in the race to sign Lazio's Goran Pandev.

The forward has emerged as Lazio's most saleable asset - despite being half-owned by Internazionale.

Barcelona have already been credited with an interest, but both Tottenham and Liverpool will have scouts present at the Rome derby against Roma to watch the Macedonian in action.

The Italian media has even somewhat spuriously suggested that Lazio could drop the player from the starting line-up to stave off interest.

Pandev confirmed that Barca had been in contact with his agent, and admitted that he would be hard pushed to turn down such a big club.

"It is true that Barca are interested," said Pandev.

"The Catalan club's director of sport Txiki Beguiristain has already made contact with my representative Sabatino Donati.

"Lazio has put an ‚é¼8 million price tag on me which is a big price.

"If Barca offer you something then you just can't refuse, but the decision is Lazio and Inter's."
