Kaviedes to quit Palace
Skysports.com can confirm that Ecuadorian Ivan Kaviedes is set to leave Crystal Palace.
Skysports.com can confirm that Ecuadorian striker Ivan Kaviedes is set to leave Crystal Palace. The hit-man has failed to break into Iain Dowie's first-team plans since a summer switch from Barcelona de Guayaquil and is now negotiating his release from The Eagles.
He is expected to agree a settlement to depart within the next 48 hours, but plans to try and prolong his career in Britain.
The 27-year-old struggled to adapt to the rigours of Premiership football and found his route to the first-team at Selhurst Park blocked by the tremendous form of Andy Johnson - who Palace are employing in a lone striker role.
Kaviedes has, though, performed well for Palace's reserves and is hopeful of finding another club in either England or Scotland.
The player has been linked with a swift return to former club Barcelona de Guayaquil, but would prefer to stay on these shores ahead of returning to his homeland at this time.
Another striker set for the exit door at Palace is Neil Shipperley who has been mooted as a target for Championship outfit Reading.
The 30-year-old has not played for the South Londoners since scoring the goal in last year's play-off final against West Ham that clinched promotion.
He was troubled by injury for the early part of this campaign and subsequently, like Kaviedes, has failed to secure first-team action due in no small part to the form of Johnson.
However, with Sandor Torghelle, Dougie Freedman and Wayne Andrews also seemingly ahead of him in Dowie's pecking order, it appears likely that the much-travelled Shipperley will move on again, with The Madejski Stadium his most likely destination.
With departures expected, Palace are looking to further bolster their strike-force and have been linked with Bolton target Dmitri Bulykin and Porto's Hugo Almeida.
