Samp admit Recoba interest

Giuseppe Marotta has told skysports.com Sampdoria are interested in Alvaro Recoba.

Sampdoria director Giuseppe Marotta has told skysports.com the Stadio Luigi Ferraris side are interested in signing Internazionale's Alvaro Recoba.

The Uruguay striker, nicknamed 'El Chino', netted the winner for the Nerazzurri against Samp on Sunday in their thrilling 3-2 win at Giuseppe Meazza.

Recoba, who conceded he fell out with manager Roberto Mancini, is believed to be unhappy at Inter after starting just a handful of games in Serie A this term.

"To have Recoba at Sampdoria would be a dream, as he is a player of the highest profile," said Marotta to skysports.com.

"However, we've not submitted a formal offer to Inter, because it's quite hard for a club like ours to secure such an ambitious target."

After swapping Fabio Bazzani for Simone Inzaghi, Marotta has stated the Bluecerchiati are not looking to make any more squad changes during the transfer window.

"I am quite proud to say that we are doing extremely well with the players we already have so it won't be necessary to bring new faces in," he added.
