Udinese stand firm on Iaquinta

Vincenzo Iaquinta's proposed move to Barcelona has hit problems.

Vincenzo Iaquinta's proposed move to Barcelona has hit problems over the terms of the actual transfer.

Udinese have confirmed that Barca made an official offer for the powerful front man, but agreement is still a long way from being reached.

The Catalans proposed a loan deal whereby they would pay around ‚é¼4 million to secure the 25-year-old for the rest of the season.

However, Udinese have no intention of doing business unless it is a permanent transfer, and they receive a fee in the region of ‚é¼8 million.

"Iaquinta's talks have been closed immediately," Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo stated.

"I don't want Iaquinta to think that we are stopping him from taking an opportunity, but Barcelona asked for a loan.

"Those are simply not the right conditions. Also I said some time ago, Udinese does not want to sell anyone in January."

While the deal is far from dead, it seems that Barca will have to try and broker a permanent deal if they wish to land Iaquinta.
