Fenerbahce lead Anelka race

Fenerbahce have arrived as the shock key suitors in the chase to land Manchester City forward Nicolas Anelka. The French press are adamant that the striker has been tempted by the offer of an enormous é¼5 million (£3.5m) a year to move to Turkey - as well as a clause that will allow him to leave if the club fail to qualify for the next UEFA Champions League.
City have already indicated that they are prepared to sell Anelka for a major bid, and Fenerbahce are apparently determined to stave off interest from the likes of Liverpool, who look set to sign Fernando Morientes.
The Turkish giants have reportedly offered a lump sum of around é¼10 million (£7m), which is likely to prove far more tempting than the structured payments that they are likely to receive from elsewhere.
The Manchester club still owe Paris Saint Germain around £5 million for the striker - and the desire to clear their debts, and sell on a player that has become increasingly unsettled at the club in the past few weeks appears to be growing.
