Bury and Macc make changes

Bury and Macclesfield Town have both been busy in the transfer market on Friday.

Bury and Macclesfield Town have both been busy in the transfer market on Friday.

The Shakers have brought in Leeds United striker Andrew Keogh on a month's loan as cover for the injured Jon Newby.

The 18-year-old (pictured), who spent a previous loan spell with Scunthorpe United this season, will also act as a temporary replacement for the departed David Nugent, who was recently sold to Preston North End.

Keogh's arrival comes as Bury have agreed an undisclosed fee with League Two rivals Macclesfield for centre back Danny Swailes.

The former Gigg Lane trainee was thought to be in talks with Northampton Town on Thursday, but Silkmen boss Brian Horton has been able to lure Swailes to Moss Rose.

Swailes joins fellow defender David Morley in moving to Macclesfield, with the latter completing his move from Doncaster Rovers on Friday.

One player on his way out of Moss Rose is former skipper Tommy Widdrington, who leaves the club by mutual consent after being transfer-listed by Horton last week.
