Adrian Mutu has expressed his happiness at signing a contract with Juventus

The Romanian forward, sacked after testing positive for cocaine at Stamford Bridge, has been given the chance to resurrect his career with the Turin side.

Mutu arrives at Juve next week and will immediately start training with his team-mates, despite not being eligible to play until the last two games of the season due to his suspension.

Mutu signed from Parma for £16 million as part of Roman Abramovich's revolution at Chelsea, although the London club cut their losses when Mutu was discovered to have used the recreational drug.

Now the 26-year-old has joined the club that he has come close to signing for in the past, and aims to make an emotional comeback against his former employers.

"It's the team that each player dreams of, the ideal place to play and to restart," Mutu told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It was destiny, due to the fact that I had been close to the move a couple of times.

"Now the dream has come true I'll change. I don't want to see my name linked to events outside of football.

"I'll have the number 30 jersey and I want to be on the pitch in the [UEFA Champions League] final against Chelsea."

Before Mutu can start playing again Chelsea may seek compensation from the Bianconeri, and the issue is expected to be resolved by a meeting of The FA in the next few days.
