No Inter move for Totti

Internazionale have ruled out any move for Roma captain Francesco Totti.

Internazionale have ruled out any move for Francesco Totti, as Roma back their captain's stance against the club's supporters.

Totti cast doubt on his future at Stadio Olimpico after an altercation with the club's fans during the midweek Coppa Italia game at Siena.

The talismanic attacker attempted to quell a crowd disturbance but ended up being jeered and having objects thrown at him by Roma fans.

The incident prompted Totti to question whether he wanted to stay at the club and Roma have been quick to condemn the minority who have upset their skipper.

"I've spoken with Totti," said Roma's chief officer Rossella Sensi. "Francesco confirmed to me that his words were in reference to those supporters.

"The bitterness is seeing the captain, Francesco, who is Roma, asking his supporters to stop and then being treated in that way.

"I'm ashamed that a few people, who aren't supporters, could ruin the club and the city's image."

Roma coach Luigi Delneri is also confident that Totti will remain with the Giallorossi despite his unhappiness this week.

Delneri said: "Totti's declarations haven't frightened me. I've seen him calm.

"I've spoken with him, he's our captain. If someone offended him in that moment, it's clear he was bitter but, in football as in life, you look forward."

Meanwhile, Inter supremo Massimo Moratti has refuted suggestions he will aim to capitalise on the uncertainty by making a bid for the Italy international.

Moratti said: "There aren't any initiatives from Internazionale about Totti. I already have good players.

"I only made an enthusiastic declaration about the fact that Totti is a player that could be well accepted everywhere.

"Certainly I'd like Totti but I already have good players."
