Nerazzurri medical staff confirmed that they will evaluate his situation day by day before deciding on his availability for the Chievo tie.
Boss Roberto Mancini will be unlikely to risk him with key games in the League and UEFA Champions League coming up, and has adequate replacements in Christian Vieri and Obafemi Martins.
However the loss of Adriano is still a big blow for the fourth placed team, as the ex-Flamengo man has picked up 14 league goals and has been a vital cog in the team's unbeaten season so far.
