Wardley leaves Abbey

Stuart Wardley has been released by League Two Cambridge United.

The 30-year-old has been on a three-month deal at The Abbey Stadium.

Wardley's former club Rushden & Diamonds have now offered him terms, which The U's cannot match.

New Cambridge boss Steve Thompson has to shed players from his current squad before he can bring new faces in.

Cambridge also confirmed that transfer-listed striker Amadou Konte has attracted interest from SPL outfit Hibernian.
