Klos out for season

Rangers keeper Stefan Klos will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Rangers have been dealt a huge blow with the news that first-choice keeper Stefan Klos has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The German shot stopper has damaged his knee ligaments in training and will miss the rest of the current campaign as The Gers look to pip Celtic to the race for the title.

The 33-year-old joined the club from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 1998 and has been a firm favourite ever since.

Klos has been an ever-present this season and his injury will come as a hammer blow to boss Alex McLeish as he attempts to claim the SPL title back from Martin O'Neill's side.

The player will travel to his homeland to see a specialist, and the club are hopeful that Klos will recuperate well in due time.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Rangers Football Club can confirm that Stefan Klos injured his right knee in training yesterday, sustaining damage to his anterior cruciate ligament.

"He will travel to Germany to see a specialist early next week and will have surgery in the near future.

"He will be out for the remainder of the season and our medical team expects Stefan to make a full recovery and return to the squad for pre-season training."

23-year-old reserve keeper Allan McGregor will now be handed the unenviable task of replacing Klos for what remains of this campaign.
