Orient land Cobbler

Leyton Orient have signed Northampton Town midfielder Tom Youngs.

Leyton Orient have signed midfielder Tom Youngs for an undisclosed fee from League two rivals Northampton Town.

The 25-year-old has signed a contract until the season's end with the Brisbane Road club after falling down the pecking order with Colin Calderwood's side.

The former Cambridge United trainee, who joined The Cobblers in £50,000 move in March 2003, has made just four starts for Northampton this term.

Calderwood was disappointed that Youngs could not have more of an impact in his Sixfields Stadium first team.

"I find it a shame it did not work out for him here because he gives you what you want from anyone on your team and his contribution has been excellent and the one thing that stands out is that he is a true professional," Calderwood told the club's official website.

The news comes as Orient will be without the services of winger Wayne Carlisle for another four weeks after he underwent surgery on an injured ankle this week.
