Todd handed captain's armband

Blackburn manager Mark Hughes has made Andy Todd his new captain.

Despite Todd's past being littered with controversial on and off field incidents, Hughes believes that Todd is the best man for the job.

Todd has become a consistent performer during Hughes' stewardship at Blackburn and was recently rewarded with a new three year contract.

"Andy has been hurt by his misdemeanours in the past," admitted Hughes.

"But he is 30 years old now and he has learned by what has gone on before.

"He is one of the most under-rated defenders in the Premiership - He has seized his chance and impressed me."
