Tottenham boss Martin Jol has spoken of his delight after watching Mido net a debut brace at White Hart Lane. The Egyptian had an exceptional game in Spurs' 3-1 over Portsmouth and has clearly impressed his new taskmaster.
Mido was injured in a training game in midweek and was a serious doubt but Jol adjudged him fit to play and is now delighted at coming to such a decision.
"Mido was injured and we gave him a late test,'' beamed Jol.
''I thought he could play for 45 minutes, but he scored twice and you couldn't ask for more.
"Andy Reid also did well on his debut, and you worry a bit how new players will cope with The Premiership.
"This was a big win for us. We haven't had a bad spell recently, I think we have just been short of luck."
