Maier slams Klinsmann

Sepp Maier has slammed Jurgen Klinsmann for dropping Oliver Kahn.

German goalkeeping legend Sepp Maier has slammed Jurgen Klinsmann for dropping Oliver Kahn in Wednesday's friendly draw with Argentina.

The Bayern Munich goalkeeping coach, who was sacked from his post as national coach after falling out with Klinsmann earlier this season, told the tz newspaper that he believes the former Tottenham star is trying to force Kahn out of the German squad:

"Ollie is simply being continually provoked until he goes and says something. Then they'll throw him out of the national squad just as they did with me," Maier fumed.

The 60-year-old described the fact that Kahn had to sit on the bench against Argentina as "a slap in the face" for the Bayern custodian and hinted that the fact that both Klinsmann and Lehmann share the same advisor was behind the decision.

"The way people are being treated is way below the belt," Maier added.
