Ronaldo fumes at fine leak

Ronaldo has hit out at Real Madrid after learning of his proposed fine in the press.

Ronaldo has hit out at Real Madrid for their handling of disciplinary matters after learning he was to be fined through the Spanish press.

The Brazilian admits he has still not been officially informed whether he will face action after returning late, and with an injury, from his Valentine's party last week, and subsequently turning up late for training.

It was reported that the player would be hit with a fine, and Ronaldo is far from happy that the club have let the matter become public knowledge.

"I have always been open with the club when there have been problems and they have sorted them out internally," he stated.

"That continues to be the same for me but it hasn't been the same on their part.

"The whole thing came out in the press and I found out from there that they were to fine me.

"I have still not had an official letter confirming it.

"I don't want to justify the mistakes that I committed last week, but I have a certain way of behaving and when I have a problem I try to sort it out in a direct way with people.

"I had a meeting scheduled for last Thursday, but on the Wednesday it had already come out that I was to be fined. I found out through the press."

However, the striker insists he has not fallen out with boss Wanderley Luxemburgo over his off-field excesses of last week.

The former Internazionale star did not start against Athletic Bilbao last weekend, a decision that many took to be a punishment from the coach.

Ronaldo insists, though, that Luxemburgo had simply given him a rest ahead of Tuesday's crucial UEFA Champions League clash with Juventus.

"The boss told me that it was not a punishment," he continued. "He had it planned to rest us for the game against Juve."
