Drent set for Orient

Chinese side Shenyang Ginde are on the cusp of signing Groningen's Martin Drent.

The Chinese side sent a delegation to the Netherlands at the weekend to see Drent in action for Groningen.

Despite Drent making just a ten-minute cameo appearance, Shenyang saw enough to enter into negotiations with their Groningen counterparts.

Groningen are happy to let Drent head out of the club on a free transfer, having signed Erik Nevland recently, and a deal could be swiftly concluded.

Shenyang are coached by Martin Koopman, who had a spell with Groningen earlier in his career and will have first-hand knowledge of the 34-year-old's qualities.
