Beevers joins Lincoln

Boston defender Lee Beevers has sealed his switch to League Two rivals Lincoln.

Boston defender Lee Beevers has sealed his switch to League Two rivals Lincoln City.

The 21-year-old stopper has initially signed for The Red Imps on a loan deal, but that is only to allow him to be available for their clash with Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

Beevers will join Lincoln for an undisclosed fee, and Pilgrims boss Steve Evans is not happy that he was forced to sell one of his star players.

Last season's Players' Player of the Year was highly rated by Evans but he said that financial matters meant that he had to be sold.

"Lee Beevers is a talented boy and we will miss him," Evans told the club website.

"I was left in a no-win situation; it was sell Kirk or Beevers. At least our main goalscorer is not going anywhere at present and that is key to our play-off hopes.

"On behalf of everyone at Boston United, we thank Lee and wish him every success for the remainder of his career, in which he has many years ahead of him."
