Tigers to pocket striker
Hull City are due to complete the signing of Craig Fagan from Colchester on Monday.
Hull City are due to complete the signing of Craig Fagan on Monday after reviving their interest in the Colchester United striker. The Tigers initially shelved their bid for the 22-year-old over a week ago after failing to strike a deal with Colchester.
Doncaster Rovers were also keen on Fagan and submitted an offer in excess of £100,000 but that also did not meet the approval of their League One rivals.
Promotion-chasing Hull have now returned with a fresh offer for the former Birmingham City youngster and this has been accepted by The U's.
Fagan will travel to The Kingston Communication Stadium on Monday to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical, with The U's confirming the forward is due to leave.
"Colchester United have given permission for Craig to talk to Hull," the club's chief executive Marie Partner told the club's official website.
"It is our understanding that the deal will be completed on Monday, as long as he passes the club's medical.
"We have been reluctant to let Craig go but he expressed his wishes to move on and further his career."
Fagan is out of contract at the end of the season and has scored 14 goals this term, including one against Hull in the FA Cup third round in January.
He initially moved to Layer Road in August 2003 on loan from Birmingham before completing a permanent switch in March last year.
