Nilsson to wait on future
Southampton defender Mikael Nilsson has scotched talk he has signed for Malmo.
Southampton defender Mikael Nilsson has scotched talk that he has agreed to return home to Sweden with Malmo.Nilsson has failed to make a sustained impact since moving to St Mary's from Halmstads last summer, after impressing in Euro 2004.
The 26-year-old, who can also play in midfield, has featured only sporadically since Harry Redknapp took over as Saints manager.
He admitted during the January transfer window that he would be tempted by the prospect of heading back to Sweden.
Halmstads are rumoured to be keen to re-sign Nilsson, while there has been speculation that a deal has already been struck with Malmo.
But Nilsson insists nothing has been signed and he will discuss his future with the Premiership strugglers at the end of the season.
"Yes, I have heard about it," Nilsson told Sportbladet about the rumours. "But Malmo FF have not been in touch.
"Tom Prahl, who I had as coach for a couple of years at Halmstads is a very good coach and I would not mind having him again.
"I don't exclude anything but there is nothing serious. At the moment, I am giving priority to playing for Southampton.
"At the end of the season I will have a talk with them and see what they want to do."
