Portsmouth star Matthew Taylor claims rumours about his private life have been seriously affecting his performances.Taylor had been heralded as a future England star after joining Portsmouth in 2002.
However, the last 18 months have seen Taylor lose his form and he blames the unsubstantiated rumours about him and pop-star Will Young - which have appeared on the internet.
"When everything came about the whole Will Young thing, I was very upset," he told The Sun.
"Everyone who knows me knew it was a fabrication and I think someone had it in for me.
"I thought it was funny at first but then it became a bit personal.
"The funny thing is I do not even know Will. If I did I would get some signed albums and a couple of tickets."
