QPR land young Gunner

Queens Park Rangers have signed Arsenal youngster Matthew Hislop this week.

Queens Park Rangers have signed youngster Matthew Hislop from Premiership side Arsenal.

The 18-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half year deal with the Championship club following his release from Highbury.

Hislop is a speedy left back who can also play on the left side of midfield and the teenager has already appeared in Arsenal's reserves this season.

Despite receiving interest from several clubs, the defender has revealed that QPR boss Ian Holloway (pictured) was a factor in his decision to join the West London outfit.

"Although I was disappointed to be released by Arsenal, I was really impressed by what Ian Holloway had to say about the future plans at QPR and how he saw me fitting into them," Hislop told the club's official website.

"The club want to progress and I want to learn and hopefully with Ian Holloway in charge, I can become a very good player at this football club."
