Lazio ace Paolo Di Canio has been stung with a fine for his salute against Roma.
Lazio ace Paolo Di Canio has been stung with a heavy fine by the Italian Disciplinary Commission.The veteran attacker has been punished by the FIGC following a fascist salute he made at the end of the derby with Roma in January.
Di Canio's actions, in which he made the salute to Roma supporters at Stadio Olimpico, have resulted in him landing a ‚é¼10,000 fine.
The former West Ham United star's salute angered the Roma fans, who vociferously complained about Di Canio.
The disciplinary commission felt duty-bound to fine Di Canio as they believed his gesture could have provoked violence inside, or outside, the stadium.
In addition to Di Canio's sanction, Lazio have also been fined by the commission.
