Young striker Matt Shaw will be handed a professional contract by Blackpool. The League One outfit have moved to tie up a permanent deal for the 20-year-old after he impressed since moving to Bloomfield Road in December.
Shaw was released by Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the season after failing to make the grade at Hillsborough.
Blackpool boss Colin Hendry (pictured) expressed his delight at making the signing, and was enthusiastic about the player's future at the mid-table side.
"Matt's going to sign a long-term contract with us," said Hendry.
"We've seen him score goals in the reserves and some very good ones in training.
"His attitude is first class, he's a local lad, he's fit and he's hungry, he will be an asset to this football club."
Shaw has made just one appearance for Blackpool to date, a substitute cameo in the FA Cup defeat to Leicester.
