Cobblers sign Kirk
Northampton Town have signed Boston United striker Andy Kirk for £125,000.
Northampton Town have boosted their striking options with the signing of Boston United's Andy Kirk. The Northern Ireland international leaves the York Street club for £125,000, having signed a three-and-a-half year deal with The Cobblers.
The 25-year-old's move to The Sixfields Stadium comes only a few months after the player moved into English football from Scottish Premier League side Hearts last May.
His goalscoring proficiency with The Pilgrims - 20 goals in 30 matches for Boston this season - led to Kirk being the subject of moves away from the Lincolnshire-based outfit.
Despite interest from clubs in The Championship and League One, however, Kirk has decided his future lies with Colin Calderwood's side.
Having seen Trevor Benjamin move on to Coventry City after a brief spell with Northampton this season, The Cobblers are sure to see Kirk's arrival as a major boost towards their promotion hopes, with the team sitting sixth in the League Two table.
