Sav relishing Dublin reunion

Robbie Savage is hoping to be fit to lock horns again with Dion Dublin.

Robbie Savage is hoping to be fit to lock horns again with Leicester City's Dion Dublin.

The Blackburn Rovers midfielder rates himself as 50-50 to overcome a groin problem and make the FA Cup tie against his former club but is not concerned by meeting Dublin again.

Savage had a painful encounter when the two clashed in a Midlands derby when Dublin was with Villa and Savage was scrapping in the midfield for Birmingham City.

After a late tackle by the Villa man, Savage sprung to his feet, only to be met by a head-butt by his adversary. Dublin received a red card and apologised for his actions afterwards.

"Me and Dion went a long way back," Savage explained to Sky Sports News.

"We played with each other for Manchester United in the reserves; one game I remember I think I scored two goals and he scored one and we formed a great partnership.

"The next time I saw him was at Villa Park!

"I think everyone knows what happened that day.

"But I believe he's been fantastic for Leicester. He got the winner in the last round and all credit to him.

"As I say, what's happened has happened.

"I think we could speak about a lot of players who have had run-ins with myself but that's all in the past.

"You get on with it; it's another game, another club and I'm sure we'll both be trying our best for our respective teams to win the game."
