The exciting project will be part of the £1 billion redevelopment of the Millennium Dome site and will initially cater for 15,000 youngsters, 10,000 of which will gain free access to the state-of-the-art facilities.
A proud Beckham is clearly determined to put something back into the English game despite the fact that he is currently plying his trade in the sunnier climes of Madrid.
"When we were talking about the whole soccer school, people were saying to me: 'What do you want it to be?'" said the England captain.
"Do you want the next Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney or Rio Ferdinand to come out of this?
"Yes, of course I want kids to learn, but the most important thing for me is that they come down and they have that 'wow factor'.
"They walk into the soccer school and it is something they have never seen before. That's what I want to make it, something different from the other soccer schools around the world.
"For me, it is a long-term project and is one which I am creating while still playing but that is what I want to do after I finish playing football.
"I want to be involved with kids, the coaching of kids and the involvement of my soccer school.
"Hopefully it will run for many, many years."
Beckham himself was part of the Bobby Charlton Soccer School as a youngster and he will be hoping to pass on his skills to young fanatics - boys and girls - aged between eight and 15.
The football school is part of a massive new redevelopment project headed by Anschutz Entertainment Group.
