Lazio join Abidal hunt

Lazio are reported to be tracking Lyon defender Eric Abidal.

The 26-year-old French international has been a rock for Lyon since joining from Lille last summer.

He is contracted to Lyon for another three seasons, but Lazio are said to be very keen on his signature.

Lazio representatives were present at Stade Gerland to watch Abidal in action against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.

However, the Italian giants are not believed to be the only club monitoring Abidal as it is claimed Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain are also monitoring him.

Meanwhile, Lazio are also considering making a move for Italian legend Giovanni Trapattoni.

Trapattoni took over from Benfica following Euro 2004, but Lazio president Claudio Lotito feels he could lure Trap to The Eternal City.

Giuseppe Papadopulo only took charge in December, but he could find himself replaced a lot sooner than expected.
