Brito blasts Jose's absence

Baltemar Brito has blasted Jose Mourinho's absence from the Chelsea bench.

Chelsea assistant manager Baltemar Brito was unhappy about Jose Mourinho's absence from their 4-2 win over Bayern Munich.

Mourinho was serving the first of a two-game Uefa ban, but he still seemed able to get his messages across to Brito and Steve Clarke on the Chelsea bench.

"We prepared for this game very well beforehand, we had the strategy, the tactics in place and they were Jose's tactics and they worked," Brito told Sky Sports.

"Before the match Jose had predicted what would happen and predicted a strategy leaving parts open for us to make decisions, which we did during the game.

"We are not very happy, what happened with Jose was an injustice. The players did brilliantly, they were fantastic today and showed their ability to beat any team.

"We beat Barcelona, we also put four goals past Bayern Munich. But Jose not being on the bench, I'm not happy about."

Frank Lampard, who netted a brace, was left with a bitter taste in his mouth over Michael Ballack's last gasp penalty.

Chelsea were heading to a superb 4-1 win  before Ballack was brought down in the area in the final minute..

"At the moment I'm disappointed because of the last-minute goal," said Lampard to Sky Sports .

"4-1 would have been great to take there, 4-2 still is.... but we're a little disappointed. In the last minute we switched off and they scored.

"Two goals is a good lead, we are confident we can score there but three goals would have been better.

"In the first half we were solid, they were tight in midfield and at 1-1 we could have died a bit, but we really pushed on and played with pressure and quality, and got the goals we deserved.

"I don't think it is over, it is only half-time and we have seen what they did to Arsenal in Germany. They will give us a really good game and it is definitely not all over."
