Stuttgart aim to keep Hleb

VFB Stuttgart will do whatever it takes to keep playmaker Alexander Hleb.

VFB Stuttgart have insisted that they will try to keep talented midfielder Alexander Hleb at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadium.

The Belarus international has attracted interest from The Premiership with Arsenal keen to take him to England.

Arsene Wenger has been following the playmaker for more than two years and failed in a bid for his signature last summer.

23-year-old Hleb - who recently extended his contract with Stuttgart until 2008 - has been capped 10 times at international level by Belarus.

Hleb's advisor Uli Ferber claimed that Arsenal scouts were watching the youngster during Stuttgart's 3-0 defeat of Schalke last weekend.

It has been suggested that Hleb has a clause in his contract which would allow him to leave the Swabians in the summer for a guaranteed transfer sum, news which is bound to alert interested clubs.

"We don't even think about letting him go," said Stuttgart's director of sport Herbert Briem, who expressed that Stuttgart coach Matthias Sammer sees the Belarusian as a key player in his plans to build for the future.
