Bierofka set to leave

German midfielder Daniel Bierofka looks set to leave Bayern Leverkusen this summer.

German midfielder Daniel Bierofka looks set to leave Bayer Leverkusen this summer after failing to win a first-team place.

The Germany international - who joined Leverkusen in 2002 - has struggled to break into Klaus Augenthaler's side this season and now looks set to leave the Bay-Arena.

"I need a change of air and have already received a couple of offers," declared the winger.

The former 1860 Munich player has been capped three times by Germany - making his debut in 2002 - but has not featured in Jurgen Klinsmann's plans this season.

Once a fixture on the left of the Bayer Leverkusen midfield, the club are reportedly ready to let the player leave during the summer transfer window. Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld and promotion-chasing FC Cologne are monitoring the midfielder's situation.

Also on the cards could be a move to former club 1860 Munich, with a return to the Munich Lions being his preferred choice.

"Maybe I will return, but first the Lions must secure promotion back to the Bundesliga," stressed the 26-year-old.
