Kiely laments duo's flop
Dean Kiely feels Francis Jeffers and Dennis Rommedahl have not been a success.
Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Dean Kiely admits summer signings Francis Jeffers and Dennis Rommedahl have failed to have the desired impact.Addicks boss Alan Curbishley strengthened his squad before the start of the season by bringing in Jeffers from Arsenal and Rommedahl from PSV Eindhoven.
But, in contrast to fellow new arrival Danny Murphy, both players have struggled to establish themselves at The Valley.
Former Everton striker Jeffers has mustered just three goals in The Premiership this term and has been unable to nail down a regular starting spot.
Likewise, Denmark international Rommedahl has been unable to replicate the form which made him one of Europe's most dangerous wingers.
Kiely concedes it has been disappointing that Jeffers and Rommedahl have failed to live up to their billing this term.
The Addicks shot-stopper, though, is confident that the pair will deliver the goods, like Murphy did after a slow start to his Charlton career.
"You would think Curbs has covered all the bases but at the end of the day it's down to the players," said Kiely.
"Danny Murphy came in and has played really well after a slow start.
"But Franny has struggled, so too has Dennis. But we have faith they will come good eventually."
