Marshall in good spirits

Andy Marshall is hoping to make a comeback before the end of the season.

Andy Marshall is hoping to make a comeback for Millwall before the end of the season.

The brave keeper was knocked unconscious by Preston's Richard Cresswell during his side's 2-1 victory on Sunday.

With only two games remaining for Dennis Wise's Lions, Marshall is determined to be fit for the season finale against Burnley on May 8.

He definitely misses the trip to Sheffield United but is a relieved man after the nasty clash at The New Den.

"I'm feeling a lot better today," he told Sky Sports News. "Obviously there was slight concern yesterday.

"I've got a bit of a headache and I'm a bit under the weather but, considering what happened, I don't feel too bad.

"It was totally unintentional. I've seen it on TV since and, looking back at it, I can't remember any of the points. There's nothing in my mind about it.

"The fact that the medical team have strapped me as a precautionary measure makes it look worse than it possibly was. But I was out cold for two to three minutes and there was some concern on the medical staff.

"It's more of a worry for my family and my wife as they have to sit there and watch it and I think it's more worrying for them.

"I started to come round just before they put me on the stretcher. They took me to hospital, I did all the scans and they checked up on me and, four hours or so later, they let me go home."

Marshall is not prepared to rule himself out for the remainder of campaign.

"We've only got a couple of weeks left," he admitted. "The standard thing is you have to miss seven or ten days so I've got a period out but I will hopefully be involved in the last game of the season.

"They say we goalkeepers are stupid and mad but it's part of the job and it's what we all enjoy."
