Jermain Defoe has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with Tottenham.
Jermain Defoe has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with Tottenham Hotspur.The England international marksman's new contract will run from this summer and will extend his stay at White Hart Lane until 2010.
Defoe has banged in 14 Premiership goals for Spurs this season, and may well be able to fire them into Europe for next season.
Martin Jol's side are still in with a shout of landing seventh place in The Premiership, and Defoe's new deal will be a timely boost to the club.
"I am delighted and so is he," said Jol. "He's happy here.
"He's played a big part in our season because he's scored 24 goals. I think he can improve on things."
The North Londoners face fellow European hopefuls Aston Villa on Sunday and the club will be boosted by Defoe's decision.
