Ajax cemented their position in second place with a 4-1 win at RBC Roosendaal.

Danny Blind's men dominated from the outset and had put the game beyond doubt before the break.

The opener came from South African midfielder Steve Pienaar on 20 minutes.

RBC attempted to rally, but they were dealt a hammer blow as two goals inside 60 seconds from Wesley Sneijder and Angelos Charisteas had Ajax 3-0 up at the break.

Sneijder executed a superb free kick, while Charisteas pounced on an RBC defensive blunder.

Tomas Galasek added a fourth on the hour, with Tim Smolders' strike on 82 minutes proving nothing more than a consolation.
