Lyon don't want Niang
Lyon have insisted they will not enter the race to sign Strasbourg's Mamadou Niang.
Lyon have insisted they will not enter the race to sign Strasbourg striker Mamadou Niang, which would leave the path clear for Arsenal to firm up their interest.Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is a confirmed admirer of Niang and rumours have suggested the studious Frenchman will make a summer move for the Senegal marksman.
Lyon have also been linked with a move for the powerful striker, but chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has dismissed the possibility of bringing Niang to Stade Gerland.
"We will hire two or three players," Aulas told But! "But Niang is not the right trail.
"I am not saying he is a bad player, but we are not interested in him."
Aulas' main concern is to ensure the cornerstone of the team remain at the club next term.
"We want to keep our group," added Aualas. "Juninho, Mahamadou Diarra and Michael Essien will remain at Lyon next season.
"Only the players who really want to leave will be allowed to leave."
